People search for happiness as if it were an object in
a treasure hunt. Yet authentic happiness is not another
"thing" to be acquired. It is not a possession from
which exciting newness will soon fade. Neither will the
next new possession provide authentic happiness.
Rather, authentic happiness is a joyous way of being.
John Keats wrote, "I am certain of nothing but the holiness of the
Heart's affections and the truth of the Imagination."
We can find authentic happiness in times of plenty and
scarcity. Its home is the heart; its doorway is the
imagination.
Listen when your heart whispers, "Choose what you now
envision, for your strengths are gifts of The Perfect
Creator. Be fully alive, mindful of every experience,
every sensation, every dream. You can be happy in every
moment!"
Ask yourself, "What is it for me to be authentically
happy?"
Throughout life, possessions, relationships, status,
and careers all can change. Yet authentic happiness is
lasting because it does not come from temporary things.
It is a spiritual gift that celebrates your life as
being whole and complete. It honors you as a very
unique and special person.
